Keith Latson, DVM, DAVCS

Early Life

Keith was born at Fort Hood, Texas, to a career military officer and healthcare educator. He spent his childhood moving from one corner of the United States to another, with a few years of European and Hawaiian living scattered in.

Keith was introduced to equine veterinarian work at Fort Monmouth, NJ, when his cub scout pack visited the barn area of Monmouth Park.

The unbelievable athletic presence of the Thoroughbred racehorses stuck with Keith through childhood, looking forward each May to the Kentucky Derby telecast. After completing high school in Georgia, Keith returned to Texas for undergraduate studies at Texas A&M, where several influential friendships were developed.

Learning The Ropes

Keith grew up the son of a career army special operations intelligence officer and nurse executive. His parents’ careers and international assignments relocated his family over 20 times prior to Keith’s college and veterinary school tenure at Texas A&M University. Through his formative years, Keith learned to integrate the best of a multitude of experiences and to improve what was left to be desired; this has been critical in his professional and business development path.

With his family, Kris, Bridger (11) and Davis (10), Keith enjoys adventure travel and experiencing world’s cultures and people. The Latsons split time between Phoenix, Arizona and Vail, Colorado.

Keith holds a BS in Biomedical Science, a BS in Veterinary Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, all from Texas A&M University. He served a rotating internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, CO and as an Equine Surgery Resident at University of California, Davis prior to attaining veterinary surgical specialist status and entering focused Thoroughbred racehorse practice.

Doing Good

Dr. Keith Latson was trained as a veterinary surgeon and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2006.

Keith spent nearly two decades serving Thoroughbred racing as a surgeon, veterinary practitioner at Santa Anita/Del Mar/Hollywood Park and media spokesperson for the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. Keith has evaluated an aggregate of over $500 million in purchased racehorses, been the primary surgeon for numerous Thoroughbred champions, and the daily veterinarian for some of the best racehorses of our generation.

In 2007, Keith began building companies to optimize animal health through new products, platforms and processes. FullBucket, Rocket Animal Health, Zquared and Revel Vet are several of the companies and brands that have thrived under Keith and his Partners’ curation.

“My first day as a veterinary assistant at a racetrack, I laid eyes on a horse and was taken in by the majesty and grace of the animal. I knew I wanted to devote my life to caring for them and learning as much about them as possible. That belief in proper care and constant thirst for knowledge is reflected in our ethos here at FullBucket.”
